Chapter 11
Mrs. Dubose has died. I was quite amazed when I heard that news, but I don’t want to Atticus know that. He is to think I get along well with that crazy old lady. And then Atticus said if I know why Mrs. Dubose always fits. The answer is that Mrs. Dubose was indulged in morphine, which let me feel amazing and confused. Atticus said Mrs. Dubose wanted to break herself of morphine, so that her never use it before her die.
She felt like giving a gift, a candy box with the camellia called snow-on- the-Mountain. When I see her gift, I find the sadness filled into my heart. I don’t want to anybody know it. I throw the candy box into the fire. But I still keep the flower. When I saw the camellia, I thought maybe Mrs. Dubose was just a poor old lady. She suffered from the pain of morphine. When I read the book, maybe she was just looking at the clock; so as to she can forget the pain she was suffering.
Atticus said that she was a great woman that is brave enough to achieve something that is too difficult to do. Atticus also said that the real bravery is that trying to achieve the thing that is to be fail. I am firmly convinced that it was the reason why Atticus defended for Tom. In last a few decades, no one defended for black people and won. Atticus only wants to try if he can achieve it and help a poor black people. He is a brave person as Mrs. Dubose. Maybe Atticus will fail to defend for Tom, but he has already tried it.
I have not known the real meaning of courage until today. I found what I known about the society is superficial and immature.
